The educational requirements for the California Real Estate Broker License include college level courses inEconomics, Finance, Business Law, Real Estate Law, Loan Brokering, Appraisal, & Property Management. The license also entitles the holders to start their own firm and work un - supervised if they so choose, but economies of scale prompt many Brokers to conclude their clients would be better served by associating with a larger broker as a "Broker Associate."
