What is T.A.R.A.® ?

T.A.R.A. ® is a multi media advertising and marketing campaign intended to create a
national preparedness brand to compliment the Red Cross which is primarily a disaster
relief brand.

T.A.R.A.®  seeks to sell the public on the idea of preparedness through entertaining content.
The didactic approach just doesn't seem to be working as evidenced by the lack of
preparedness before, during and after Hurricane Katrina.

Members who register at ThinkAboutReadinessAmerica.com® are e-mailed
free of charge periodic reminders on what products are needed to get their home and /or
office prepared. Reminders will also be sent to rotate perishable items such as stored
water and canned goods.

Businesses engaged in the sale of goods and services related to preparing for
an emergency may wish to participate in T.A.R.A® co branding. For more
information on co branding  please call 760-899-6805.

Mission Statement

To provide an alternative marketing theme for emergency preparedness which will be
less didactic and more entertaining than traditional themes.

To help the citizenry overcome a tendency to procrastinate by providing an
incremental program to become prepared for emergencies.

To emphasize the risks catastrophic emergencies pose to our civil liberties and the
role emergency preparedness plays in mitigating these risks.

To promote the T.A.R.A.®  concept through brand licensing to businesses engaged in
the sale of emergency preparedness goods and services and provide venues for their
sale.

Why prepare for an emergency?

During and after an emergency  government funded help may not arrive quickly
if at all. Demand and price go up as supplies become scarce. Under extreme
circumstances rioting, looting  and general anarchy can result in the imposition of
martial law. Fostering a calm sense of  readiness by encouraging the purchase of
preparedness products at a  fair price  before a crisis may prove to be our best
defense against  the suspension of  the civil liberties which define the very essence
of  what it means to be an American.

Why the reference to "Gone with The Wind?"

In Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With The Wind" socialite Scarlett O'Hara's way of
dealing with difficult problems was to "think about it later."  Later arrived after the
Civil War when  she had to fight to keep what her father called  "Tara", Irish for
"The Land."

On 9/11 later arrived for America. The best way each of us can fight for our
homeland is to be prepared. Thought precedes action and the T.A.R.A. ®  message is
"Think About Readiness America!" ® now because tomorrow may be too late.

Who started T.A.R.A.?

T.A.R.A®. was created  by Lance Frank, Editor and  Publisher of HWY111.COM®
which serves the Palm Springs California area.  Like so many American's, the events of
9/11 stirred in Frank a desire to do something to help. While governments and wealthy
philathropists focused on preventing future attacks,  Frank focused on finding ways to
mitigate the effects of such an attack which many pundits predicted were inevitable.

The Palm Springs Area is a culturally diverse mix of  nouveau riche  gays, socialites,
feminists, women  in general, and Hollywood expatriates, but Frank perceived an anarchistic
divisiness amidst these left leaning arbiters of popular culture

It is an effort to make emergency preparedness more palatable for large demographic
elements of  the "Hwy 111Crowd," the new power elite of the area comprised of

Though not a member of any of these groups,  Frank hoped the T.A.R.A.® reference to
the strong heroic feminist qualities of Scarlet O'Hara would inspire these l to adopt  it as a fashionable alternative to more traditional
emergency preparedness themes. Conversely, the theme may also appeal to more
conservative residents of Southern states.
